Seminartext Material & Prozess
Inhalt des Grundlagenseminars ist die Auseinandersetzung mit Materialien und Materialprozessen, in Wechselwirkung zu Technologien und ihren Ästhetiken, im persönlichen wie gesellschaftlichen Kontext. Basis jeder künstlerischen Arbeit ist Material, ob haptisch und physikalisch als Werkstoff, Träger und Medium oder/und strukturell und immateriell als Codierung. Die Betrachtung und Bearbeitung der Interdependenzen von Material in grundlegenden Prinzipien und in ihren Übersetzungen und Überschneidungen zwischen dem Digitalen und dem Physikalischen, finden im Seminar durch Experimente und Materialstudien statt. Materialprozesse und algorithmische Abläufe sind Teil praktischer Übungen sowie theoretischer Einführungen.
Den Schwerpunkt bilden das Beobachten und Kennenlernen von Material als eigenständigem Element, sowie die Bearbeitung von Materialien und deren Prozesse. Unter Einbeziehen grundlegender Techniken und der Nutzung der vorhandenen Geräte können eigene Experimente und Modelle erarbeitet werden. Analoge Materialien und Werkzeuge zur Bearbeitung von Material auf digitaler und maschineller Ebene (bspw. CNC-Fertigung wie Lasercutter, Fräse oder Drucktechniken wie Riso) stehen zur Verfügung. Die im Seminar verhandelten Prinzipien können Basis für Arbeiten und Konzepte auf skulpturaler und/oder digitaler Ebene werden.
