RISO Quickstart Guide

This Quickstart Guide is only intended to cover the steps necessary to operate the printer itself. For in-depth tutorials on how to prepare the files for printing, please refer to Risograph@lab, find more information online and/or have a look at our Book corner @exMedia-Lab, where you'll not only find useful literature on the topic but some examples as well.

Step 1:

Turn on the RISO machine (Passcode: 1914). Select “MasterMake”. Open tray and feeder. Put paper into the feeder.
 

Step 2:

Insert desired cartridge. To do so, open the door, grab the cartridge that’s inside by the handle and pull out. Lift out of the machine and insert desired cartridge. Slide back in and be sure to properly close the door. Potential error messages will indicate if the door is not fully closed.
  

Step 3 (file set-up):

Open file either in Acrobat (log in with your individual Adobe license provided by khm) or just use Foxit (free pdf reader). Go to print (Command + P).

Step 4:

In the print tab, choose the RISO from the dropdown.

Step 5:

Choose the right paper size and orientation from either:
> Page Setup (Acrobat) or > Properties > Page Attributes (Foxit).

Step 6:

Find the custom RISO settings by clicking > Printer > Printer Options (Acrobat) or > Properties > Printer Options (Foxit). Make changes if necessary. Klick print.

Step 7:

Back at the machine, click pause. With the print job selected, click output. The machine will start making the master and print two sheets. From there on, use the keypad to set the quantity and print.
